About Kate

I was brought up in London by Irish parents and worked there for many years as a magazine journalist and editor. My birth name is Morag Prunty (ex Just Seventeen magazine fans take note) and I returned to Ireland in 1991. After ten years working in Dublin as editor of Irish Tatler, finally got my dream of being a published writer. My family and I moved to an 1920's house by the sea in the far west county of Mayo. I live in a small fishing village called Killala, right next to my mother’s hometown of Ballina – which I share with my husband, Niall, and our two gorgeous young sons Leo and Tom. I write most days in a small cottage in my mother’s back garden, reading what I have written back to her before rushing back home to Killala to be here when Leo gets in from school.

Pre Kate Kerrigan I wrote four Morag Prunty books - "madcap comedies" just about covers them before swapping over to my heartfelt style of historical/modern fiction and changing my (pen) name. The first Kate Kerrigan novel, Recipes for a Perfect Marriage was published in 2005 and the second The Miracle of Grace in 2007. Ellis Island was a Richard & Judy Summer read and the second City of Hope continued the story of Ellie Hogan. The final book Land of Dreams is published in Ireland in April 2013 and the UK in Autumn.
I'm an obsessive writer and fill the short gaps between novels with regular journalism for The Irish Mail (I have a weekly column in their Femail section on a thursday) and this blog. I do hope you will become a regular visitor and you are welcome to contact me anytime through this blog, Facebook or twitter. I’d love to hear from you.

Thanks for the visit.
