Over time, we have gone thru the "letting the leash out an inch at a time" experience with him, and it has paid off. Nowadays I'm more concerned with what might happen TO him, rather than any trouble he might get into on his own. We HAVE to allow our kids certain life experiences or they'll never be able to function as adults. But sometimes it seems we take more precautions with our animals than we do with our children (electronic tags, indeed).
